Yesterday's Milestone - First Marked Canvasback of the Season

This hen is a couple of days from being the first hen of close to 170 nesting Cans to hatch her clutch.

But what makes this picture great - IMO - is that it shows Delta’s magic, which is nearly 100 years strong.

Two great students - Grant Rhodes (left)  & Jake Pannell – who benefit greatly from their collaboration.

Grant is in his 4th year as a graduate student (working on teal) and Jake is in his first graduate season at Minnedosa leading the Canvasback project.

They are backed by a great group of field assistants – the synergism of students working together is one of the things that makes Delta unique.
