Harvest rates

Harvest rates

Todd Arnold reviewed U.S. harvest rates for ducks from the last 25 years. No surprise that juvenile males are the most highly harvested age-sex group.

The surprise is that Mallards no longer have the highest harvest rates. That honor goes to Gadwall.

Here are the averages for the top 5 harvested ducks in Mississippi and Central Flyways combined.

Harvest rates for juvenile-males:

Mallard 10.7%; Green-wings 4.9%; Gadwall -11.6%; Blue-wings 1.7%; and Pintails 4.9%

That photo is probably two adult males – oops.
