First Can Nest at Minnedosa

This is a drone photo of the first Canvasback nest of the year – found by Jake Panell this morning. First nests for Cans are typically started in early May, but thaw was late this year in parkland Canada. Jake finding three Can nests on his first morning searching with the drone surprised me.

In Bismarck, we are going down into the 20s tonight. Yuck. It is even less balmy in Canada, but the Cans know spring is here.
