Joel Brice

Chief Conservation Officer

Joel Brice has always been fascinated by wetland systems. In his impactful career at Delta Waterfowl, he has guided the organization’s duck production and hunter recruitment/retention programs. “Until I came to Delta, I didn’t realize that the future of hunting is at risk. I’m proud to work for an organization that is strongly focused on waterfowl hunting as well as waterfowl. The opportunity to help impact the future of a continental resource is a monumental task that I thrive upon.”

Joel lends his voice to the Delta Waterfowl Podcast as an industry leader where he talks with other experts. He most enjoys hunting ducks with his yellow Lab, Chester.

jacob-bushaw

Jacob Bushaw

R3 Coordinator

Jacob Bushaw is the R3 Coordinator at Delta Waterfowl. Bushaw says that one of his favorite things in life is taking out first time waterfowl hunters and seeing their expressions as they watch that first group of ducks come in over the decoys. He says, “That’s why I love it all – recruitment, retention and reactivation work – teaching people what it means to be a duck hunter.” Following his career in wildlife, Bushaw’s personal life is equally involved in all things outdoors. His free time is spent hunting, fishing and pursuing other adventures outside.

mike buxton

Mike Buxton

Waterfowl Programs Manager

Mike Buxton, a Vermont native, has proven to be a dedicated manager of Delta’s duck production programs and a true innovator. His ideas and research continue to increase the extreme effectiveness and efficiency of Predator Management.

“Several seasons of field research have given me a unique perspective on how different environmental components interact with each other and how waterfowl managers must adjust for changing conditions and circumstances. What a duck goes through from spring migration to successfully hatching a nest and raising a brood of ducklings is nothing short of amazing to me.”

Matt Chouinard

Senior Waterfowl Programs and Delta Marsh Property Manager

Matt Chouinard is the Waterfowl Programs and Delta Marsh property manager. Best known as Delta Waterfowl’s Hen House guru, Matt Chouinard developed his passions for waterfowl conservation and hunting while growing up in the “bootheel” of Missouri.

“For me, there’s no better place to watch mallards respond to good calling than the flooded timber of Arkansas and southeast Missouri,” he says. “Every aspect of my work that increases duck populations and hunting opportunities is highly rewarding for me.”

john devney

John Devney

Chief Policy Officer

John Devney is the expert on hunting advocacy and public policy at Delta Waterfowl. A lifelong duck hunter raised in a small community northeast of St. Paul, Minnesota, John Devney has been at the forefront of Delta Waterfowl’s mission since November of 1998. In addition to duck hunting, Devney enjoys fishing, training his black Lab and running hunt tests.

Dr. Scott Petrie

Delta Waterfowl CEO

Dr. Petrie brings experience and strong connections in both the waterfowl management and hunting communities. His notable achievements include leading Delta’s development and events staff through a period of rapid growth; overseeing the organization’s expanded conservation and leadership roles in the Atlantic and Pacific Flyways; placing renewed emphasis on and raising public awareness of Delta’s waterfowl research legacy; and advancing Delta’s hunter recruitment/retention efforts and programs such as Hen Houses and Working Wetlands.

dr frank rohwer

Dr. Frank Rohwer

President and Chief Scientist

A legendary waterfowl biologist and hunting advocate, Dr. Frank Rohwer was raised near the Chesapeake Bay, where at age 12 he began duck hunting on the public marshes on Maryland’s Eastern Shore. One thing has remained constant throughout Rohwer’s four-decade career: Delta Waterfowl “follows the science” to find solutions for ducks and duck hunters.

“I am exceptionally proud of our strong base in science,” he says. “Science guides our programs and policies, not emotion and political correctness. I love working at Delta because we always speak the truth, even when it isn’t pretty.”

When he isn’t guiding Delta’s research, Rohwer enjoys hunting ducks and pheasants with his English springer spaniel.

garrett threntham

Garrett Trentham

Regional Director

Trentham’s talent, work ethic and knowledge of Delta Waterfowl make him an outstanding fit in his regional director role. A passionate duck and snow goose hunter, Trentham relishes the opportunity to help Delta secure the future of waterfowl hunting.

“From day one, my motivation for getting involved with Delta was to ensure that 100 years from now, we still have duck hunters introducing our sport to the next generation,” he says. “Our chapters make that a priority 365 days per year. Working alongside them to attain their goals is extremely rewarding.”

paul-wait

Paul Wait

Senior Manager of Communications

One of today’s most prolific and celebrated waterfowl writers, Paul Wait has been the editor of more than 250 outdoor magazine issues in his 27-year media career. Rusty Creasey

Duck hunter

For 17 years, Rusty has kept the Coca Cola Duck Club running smoothly as a manager and guide. He learned almost everything he knows about operating a business and calling ducks from his uncle Harvey Shue, who oversaw the club for over 40 years. He has put both skill sets to work as a sales rep for Echo duck calls and competing in the World’s Championship Calling Contest, placing 12th in 2010 and 16th in 2011, out of 70+ callers. But ducks aren’t the only thing that has to fear Rusty. He also enjoys turkey hunting, bow hunting whitetails, and hunting squirrel.

Rusty married his high school sweetheart, Erin, and together they have two girls, Natalie and Myleigh. He feels blessed to have an unbelievable wife who is supportive of all his endeavors. Rusty has a passion for sharing his hunting knowledge and skills with others through DVDs and his YouTube videos. One of his most cherished and respected lessons he shares from his father Leon, who recently passed, is that a man’s handshake and his word are his worth.

Billy Campbell

Duck hunter

Raised and introduced to the outdoors in Arkansas, Billy Campbell lost his father at an early age and moved to East Texas, getting away from the outdoors. He later met Dennis Loosier, AKA “Dr. Duck,” after graduating from high school and the two duck hunted together for the first time, becoming lifelong friends and passionate waterfowl hunters. Both coming from very modest backgrounds, they lacked the resources to access private land in East Texas and cut their teeth utilizing public land. They still chase mallards with one another and others who cross their paths today on public ground, making it their mission to “enjoy the journey” and encouraging other public land waterfowlers to realize we are all on the “same team.” You can follow their journey on Realtree 365, YouTube and other social media as well as the Dr. Duck Waterfowl Podcast. #enjoythejourney
